Tesla is building applications to enable manufacturing, with an eye towards reliability, availability, scalability, speed and security. We're a diverse team composed of Controls Automation Engineers, Software Engineers, and various other disciplines that help facilitate manual and automated manufacturing processes.
As a Platform Development Engineer you'll be working with automation software, databases, virtual machines, and other applications that enable manufacturing in our various factories.
- Develop and maintain software modules, written in Java, that add features to industrial automation software platforms
- Design and implement automation for managing the deployment and upgrades of industrial automation applications
- Assist Software, Controls, Manufacturing and other types of Engineers with using industrial automation software in a sustainable manner
- Ensuring best practices and observability of the industrial automation software, such as metrics, logging, tracing, and alerting
- Consult on and design infrastructure, systems and application architecture
- 3+ years working with Java
- Expert skills in object oriented programming languages, such as Java and Python
- Expert skills with Java build systems
- Expert skills in Linux and its administration
- Experience with databases such as MySQL, MSSQL, SQLite
- Ignition software experience
- Comfortable on an on-call rotation
- Habitual documenter and spreader of knowledge
- Willing to mentor other team members and engineers with less knowledge
- Strong bias for action vs endless planning, willing to get hands dirty and make mistakes sometimes

$111,200 - $433,680/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
