What to Expect
As part of the Material Flow Automation Team, you will architect control systems and program production equipment that power Tesla’s factories to scale innovation globally, accelerating the world’s transition to sustainable energy. In this role you will design and develop automation systems for Tesla’s manufacturing equipment, including and not limited to conveyor and turn table systems, Lifter and Stacker Cranes Systems, robotics systems, automated cells, and automated mobile robots.
What You’ll Do
  • Program and debug PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servo drives, safety devices, remote IO, controllers and robotics
  • Design control system architectures, electrical schematics, and safety concepts
  • Develop automated SCADA processes to optimize cycle time, yield, and equipment availability
  • Manage equipment commissioning, installation, and buy-off testing with vendors and internal team
  • Collaborate with Product Design, Quality, Production, and Maintenance to transition prototypes to full-scale production
  • Troubleshoot and refine automation processes post-deployment
What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Controls Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 4-5 years’ experience in designing, programming, and commissioning industrial automation equipment, including; PLC programming, developing FB/AOI’s in LD and SCL, hardware configuration from scratch (Siemens, Allen Bradley), HMI/SCADA design (TIA Portal Unified, FTView, Ignition), Integration with Pick-and-Place Robot applications (Fanuc), multi-axis motion control, Programming with Python or equivalent, Virtual commissioning using Process Simulate, WinMOD, 3D Emulate or equivalent Software
  • Project experience using and designing electrical, pneumatic and network systems. using Eplan, AutoCAD, SolidWorks or similar tools. Installing, Wiring, configuring and Troubleshooting Electrical Component and panels
  • Familiar with Industrial Standards such as ISO and NEC norms, as wel las industrial protocols (PROFinet, Ethernet IP, TCP/IP, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP)
  • Proven expertise in deploying material flow automation systems (AS/RS, AMRs, lifter and stacker cranes systems, robotics) and interfacing with MES/WMS systems
  • Strong project management skills with experience managing multiple projects, overseeing outsourced equipment, and handling overlapping timelines. Highly independent, with a proven ability to execute tasks effectively with minimal direction
