What to Expect
The cell material engineering team is looking for a technician to assist in performing routine material level testing and develop test methods for cell materials. Candidates should be familiar with and comfortable working in a lab setting to perform material level testing safely. Candidates should be open to learning new skills with on-the-job training. The ideal candidate would also have hands-on experience with Li-ion cell development in an industry or academic setting.
What You’ll Do
  • Material Level Testing
  • Perform routine material level testing by following SOPs
  • Operate analytical equipment for materials characterization
  • Perform mechanical testing (tensile, compression on Instron or similar)
  • Document, compile and analyze data and test reports and communicate results with the Tesla team
  • Work with engineers to design, set-up and execute testing procedures
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and train users on equipment
  • Maintain equipment calibrations
  • Help create SOPs and online trainings tools for equipment
What You’ll Bring
  • 2+ years working in a technical position with experience in a laboratory setting
  • Familiarity with cell testing equipment (e.g., Instron-compression, tensile, 3pt bend, shear, Mark-10)
  • Must be hands-on and have good dexterity (you will be handling small parts in a glovebox)
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Meticulous attitude in data tracking, observation and note taking

    Expected Compensation

    $24.40 - $43.20/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
